  4. Anything that is set in front of an empty lot. It must be on your curbside.
  5. Tree cuttings over five (5) inches in diameter or over fifty (50) pounds in weight.

Q. Who replaces damaged containers?

Containers damaged accidentally by the hauler or from normal wear and tear will be replaced or repaired by the city. If your container is damaged and you would like to request an exchange or repair, call our Solid Waste Customer Service at (561) 791-4000.

Q. What if my container is destroyed or stolen?

The following policy applied: If the damage is your fault, you will be required to pay for a replacement (i.e. placement of hot ashes or coals or liquids). If the collection contractor damages your container, it will be replaced at no cost to you. If your container is found elsewhere, it will be returned to you at no charge. A stolen container should be reported to the Sheriff's Office (561) 688-3400 and the city will replace the container.

Q. What happens when a household moves?

The automated container is owned by the city and is issued to an address, therefore, it must not be removed from the premises. The container is left for use by the next resident.

Q. Where can I get recycle bins?

You can call (866) NEW-BINS to request new bins through the Solid Waste Authority. Bins can be requested online at the Solid Waste Authority website or the city's Solid Waste Department webpage. Bins will be delivered within five (5) business days.

Q. Can the automated container be left outside?

Yes, the container is heavy duty and resistant to environmental damage. The lid, when shut, is substantially sealed from flies and animals.

Q. What holidays is garbage not picked up on?

Garbage is picked up on all holidays except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. If you have vegetation, bulk or recycling pickup on either of those two holidays, it will be picked up on your next scheduled vegetation, bulk or recycling day. Automated garbage cans will be collected on the next pickup day. Visit the Solid Waste department webpage to view the holiday schedule.
