Wellington Workshop Details New Assistance Program
The federal government set aside $1 billion for the creation of Florida’s Hardest Hit Fund. This program is designed to help distressed Florida homeowners who are no more than 180 days past due on their mortgage payments and are unemployed, underemployed or have recently returned to work and need help to be current on payments. These funds can be used to pay monthly mortgages and escrowed mortgage-related expenses, such as property taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage insurance.
Wellington will host Foreclosure Prevention Workshops on the last Monday of every month in 2011 with the exceptions of May and December which will be held on the third Monday of the month due to federal holidays. A Lending Specialist from Housing Partnership, a non-profit organization will lead each workshop.
In addition to foreclosure prevention, Wellington’s Homeownership Center, located in the Wellington Marketplace Shopping Center at 13833 Wellington Trace, Suite E15, offers a variety of free financial and housing and services including credit counseling, loan modification, first time homebuyer counseling, obtaining down payment subsidy and referrals to other services.
