2012Last Day to Register for Wellington Idol
Calling all singers, singing groups, dancers and dancing troupes: Wellington has extended the deadline for you to enter the first-ever Wellington Idol talent competition through Thursday, January 19, 2012! Enter now for your shot at a $750 Grand Prize, three $250 prizes for the runners-up, and a chance to perform on TV.
Contestants must be at least eight years old as of February 1, 2012, must reside in Wellington or attend a Wellington school, and cannot be professional performers. Contestants will be divided into three age groups: ages 8 to 12; ages 13 to 17; and ages 18 and up. To register, contestants must submit an application form, proof of age such as a birth certificate or Photo ID and one head shot along with a non-refundable fee of $20 per individual or $40 per group act payable to the Village of Wellington. . Wellington will also accept non-returnable CDs (singers/groups) or DVDs (dancers/troupes) of a maximum three minutes in length in lieu of a YouTube entry. Please be sure to label your disc with your name, address, phone number, email address, age, and category as well as the title of your act. Registration can be completed at Village Park (11700 Pierson Road) or the Wellington Community Center (12150 Forest Hill Boulevard) during normal operating hours.
Once you’ve completed registration, it’s time to polish your act for the Live Auditions, which have been rescheduled for Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Wellington Amphitheater. The top competitors will return to the Amphitheater stage for the Semi Finals on Friday, February 10 from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. The cream of the crop will then be invited back for a final performance in the Finals on Saturday, February 11 from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm, ending with the announcement of our winners. The Finals will be videotaped and will air on Comcast Channel 18.
