"Cans for Cash" School vs. School Challenge Presentations

On December 1st, 2009, Mayor Darell Bowen and Village staff will visit each of the winning schools to present prizes and congratulate the students, faculty and staff for their participation in the contest. The visits are scheduled for:

  • December 1st, 9:30 am – Wellington Community Elementary (first place prize winner, $500).
  • December 1st, 10:15 am – Wellington Landings Middle (third place prize winner, $200).
  • December 1st, 2:15 pm – Polo Park (second place prize winner, $300).

Representatives from each of the winning schools as well as the CVO and Jet Hauling are scheduled to be recognized for their participation in the Cans for Cash and the School vs. School contest programs by proclamation at the December 8th, 2009 Council meeting.

This effort greatly assisted in increasing recycling awareness within the community and helped Wellington collect 935 lbs. of aluminum cans during the one month contest.
