2012WELLINGTON PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT EARNS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
The process of accreditation is extensive and took several years to accomplish, with agencies required to respond to 155 standards representing various elements of park and recreation efficiency and effectiveness. Applying agencies are required to meet 138 of the 155 standards in order to become accredited. After the initial application, the agency completed a detailed self-assessment report followed by a visit to the Village by a team of experienced park and recreation professionals. Finally, a review was conducted by CAPRA and accreditation was formally conferred by the 13 member commission on October 14, 2009.
Community Programs Director, Ivy M. Fivey accepted the National Accreditation Recognition Award for Wellington Parks and Recreation Department at the accreditation hearing before the commission.
